Susan R. Petty

Susan R. Petty came to TCU Press after three years as a freelance writer, editor, and project manager. Her clients ranged from college textbook publishers to trade book authors and publishers, from restaurants to business associations. Prior to freelance work, Ms. Petty developed college textbooks in a variety of disciplines during her five years as a developmental editor for Harcourt College Publishers, Inc. Students may recognize some of her accomplishments—Gardner's Art through the Ages, 10th and 11th editions, In Search of the Human Mind, 1st and 2nd editions, by Robert Sternberg, an introductory psychology text, and A Brief History of the Western World, 8th edition, by Greer and Lewis. She also developed books in other disciplines: religion, philosophy, English, political science, sociology, and history.

Ms. Petty holds degrees in French from Florida State University and psychology from University of North Texas. She occasionally dabbles in graduate studies in art history. In addition to publishing, she has worked for museums, art management consultants, and art galleries. She appears on the Community Cable Television program Books in Review and writes book reviews for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
